Nanyang in Henan province will encounter the strongest cold air so far this winter on Jan 23 with the lowest temperature predicted to be -10 C.
The minimum temperature on Jan 19 was -4 C. However, it looks to be just the beginning, as the temperature is set to plummet in the coming days.
According to Nanyang meteorological bureau, the average temperature this winter is slightly lower than last winter. The lowest temperature in the central urban area of Nanyang reached -7 C on Jan 13, with the first snowfall six days later, but the highest temperature on Jan 23 won’t even reach 0 C. Data show that the lowest temperature in the same area last year fell on Jan 16 at -6 C.
Experts are reminding local residents to pay close attention to the weather conditions and keep warm for the upcoming gales and snowfall brought on by the cold air.
