Nanyang in Henan province launched a series of activities for consumer rights protection month on March 15, International Consumer Rights Day.
A total of 25 government departments, including the local industrial and commercial bureau, the bureau of quality supervision and the price information office, and 35 enterprises arranged for information desks to be available on the day in order to process any complaints from local residents.
Some departments also showed fake and badly produced products in a bid to increase public awareness about counterfeit goods.
Preliminary statistics showed that more than 30,000 consumers used the facilities on the day and that 28,000 fliers were handed out. The administrative law enforcement departments received 65 cases of consumer complaints on the day, helping to settle 16 cases.
