Residents in Tanghe have been encouraged to pay greater attention to reducing sources of pollution in the county, during a visit from a government delegation on July 29.
Led by Tao Ye, head of the atmospheric environmental management division of the Department of Environmental Protection of Henan province, the working group toured Tanghe to spread a positive environmental message and increase awareness.
Accompanied by local officials, the group first visited Siliqiao community and Fangzhuang village, where they demonstrated the causes and ways of preventing over pollution to the local residents, handing out brochures and guides.
Tao noted that there had been an improvement in the environment in Tanghe, but that more can still be done to further raise awareness and beef-up anti-pollution efforts.
He urged the local government to put the preservation of the county's ecology at the head of its agenda, adhering to national green development policies, mobilizing citizens, and prosecuting polluters.
