The planting area has reached 247,000 hectares and the grain output is expected to reach 1,170,700 tons, of which planting corn takes up 210,733 hectares and its total production is 1,018,100 tons.

Corn and wheat are so important for Pingdingshan’s agriculture that their planting area accounts for 85 percent of the total and 90 percent of the total crops yielded.

According to the variety characteristics of corn and production conditions, plant density increased from 200 to 400 corns per acre. In order to increase agricultural production and promote new technology, many training activities have been launched, such as TV lectures, farmer training classes, and handing out technical materials.
