Zhaoping Lake is a national water conservation area of over 40 square kilometers, 38 of which are covered by water, located 10 miles south of Lushan county, Pingdingshan city, Henan province. It was approved by the Henan Provincial People’s Government as a provincial-level scenic spot in 1995 and by the national Ministry of Water Resources to be a national-level water conservancy scenic spot in 2002. It is also the birthplace of the surname Liu.
Zhaoping Lake has unique topography, featuring a combination of mountains and plain, which makes it more attractive.
Zhaoping Lake is also rich in history and culture. The tomb of Liu Lei, the earliest ancestor of the surname Liu, is located in this spot. It covers an area of 10 square kilometers, more than 30 construction monomers, including the tomb of Liu Lei, Ancestor Temple, Liu Memorial Hall and the Chinese Dragon Culture Tablet Forest.
