Xu Qing stands out at the Guangzhou Para Games

Xu Qing, a local resident of Pingdingshan, won first place in the men’s 50m butterfly S6 at the Guangzhou Para Games on Dec. 17.

Xu Qing lost both his arms in a car accident in 1998, but this never ruined his faith in his possibilities in life. One year after another, he made consistent efforts to realize his dream and pulled off a miracle before the public’s eyes. Since the time he was selected to be the “seed” and nurtured to be a “tree,” Xu has won a great deal of competitions and gained a great reputation. At the 2008 Beijing Para Olympic Games, he got 3 gold medals and 1 bronze one, achieving yet another miracle in his accomplished life.

Wang Jingang, Qu’s counterpart and teammate, gained the silver medal in the men’s 50m butterfly S6. Wang, 19 years old, once won 3 bronze medals at the 2010 National Disability Championship and 3 gold medals at the Provincial Disability Games.
