Pingdingshan provides low-cost housing

Over the past five years, over 5 million square meters of low-cost housing projects have sprouted up in Pingdingshan to help meet the need for economically affordable rental homes.

These economically affordable and low-rent housing projects have given 48,000 families a home. Those depending on minimum-wage living subsidies provided by the government and those with disabilities get their top choice of apartments. The 236 apartments in Jinxiu Garden and New Oriental residential areas were 50 square meters each, on average, and were given to those low income households.

“I am so happy to have been selected to have an apartment like this,” Li Bin, one disabled resident, said. Li Bin and his family members have been renting an 8-square-meter apartment for the past few years. He is one of 236 families receiving minimum living subsidies in Pingdingshan.

“We should have a sound and pleasant Spring Festival this time,” Yu Xiuqin, whose two sons suffer from serious diseases, told Pingdingshan Daily after moving into an affordable apartment.

Providing economically affordable housing is one of the Pingdingshan government’s strategies to provide better living standards for local residents.
