Li Tinghuai, director of the Tinghuai Ruzhou Ceramics Research Institute, was awarded the golden prize at the recently concluded 12th China Arts and Crafts Master Works and International Art Treasure Expo.
Li is a master of Chinese ceramics design art, and an inheritor of intangible cultural heritages in Henan province. This is the second national honor Li has received after the title of Chinese Ceramics Design Art Master, which was awarded at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Oct 13.
From Oct 27 to Nov 3, the China Arts and Crafts Association, Hangzhou municipal government, Zhejiang provincial economic and information affairs committee and China Arts and Crafts (Group) Co. Ltd. jointly sponsored the 12th China Arts and Crafts Master Works and International Art Treasure Expo at Hangzhou Heping International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The event was attended by 700 famous companies in the arts and crafts sector from 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, and more than 500 arts and crafts masters with their masterpieces. The exhibited works fell into 11 categories, covering 1,000 varieties and tens of thousands of products, such as sculpture crafts, lacquer ware, jewels, metal art ware, and foreign handiwork.
These exhibited works were masterpieces of the masters. They represented the highest level of contemporary Chinese arts and crafts. They were largely shown to the public for the first time, including the "flask with a plate-shaped mouth" by Li Tinghuai.
