The output of the animal husbandry in Ruzhou reached 1.45 billion yuan ($226.92 million), an increase of 7.5 percent over the previous year.

Since the beginning of 2012, Ruzhou has accelerated construction of terrace agriculture and made more efforts to attract investments in animal husbandry. The project of bringing science and technology to animal husbandry has been emphasized. Animal husbandry in Ruzhou has maintained rapid, stable and sound development.

In order to promote the development of modern animal husbandry, Ruzhou has focused on the development of terrace agriculture and improving the strength of the animal husbandry. In May 2012, the ministry of finance of Ruzhou allocated 2.75 million yuan to award newly-established enterprises, advanced towns in the development of animal husbandry, and other advanced bodies. Henan Luyuan Agriculture Company, Henan Jinhui Husbandry Company and Ruzhou Fangyuan Husbandry Company were awarded one million yuan, 600,000 yuan and 200,000 yuan respectively for their key programs in animal husbandry.

Up to now, 45 terrace farms have been added to Ruzhou, and the number of standardized terrace farms has reached 3000. Terrace agriculture has accounted for 76 percent of total farms.

Ruzhou Jiuxing Husbandry Company is applying for the state-level pig standardization model. Ruzhou Yuwangshan Raising Company and Yixinyuan Husbandry Company are applying for the province-level pig standardization models.

At the very beginning of March 2012, the leaders of Ruzhou led a delegation to visit the headquarters of Dazhi and Yurun Group in Hubei and Nanjing. They signed a cooperation agreement with Yurun Group in late March. The project will cover an area of 300 mu (20 hectares) and require an investment of 2 billion yuan. The project will bring 2.5 billion yuan in sales over 3 years and create jobs for more than 4000 people. Ruzhou Animal Husbandry Bureau will maintain close contact with the project leaders of Yurun Group in order to finish the preparatory work before the end of the year.

Ruzhou will make full use of its advanced techniques in animal husbandry to train epidemic prevention doctors and animal breeders. Knowledge about improving breeding, feeding and management, epidemic prevention and market dynamics will be imparted. In addition, Ruzhou will make greater efforts to popularize new breeds, new modes, and new technologies.
