Ruzhou was given the title of "Advanced City in Fine Management" by Henan province because of its outstanding management work in 2012.

The Henan Housing and Urban and Rural Construction Department established a group of experts in November 2012. The group assessed 18 provincially administered cities and 10 pilot cities in regards to their management conditions. Ten aspects were assessed: city planning, construction site management, residential area management, administrative law enforcement team construction management, city appearance and environment, public utilities management, public facilities construction and management, traffic, and urban landscaping and long-term mechanisms of city management.

Zhengzhou, Pingdingshan, Hebi, Sanmenxia, Zhumadian, Changyuan and Ruzhou all received the title of “Advanced City in Fine Management”. Ruzhou’s Housing and Urban and Rural Construction Bureau was recognized as an “Advanced Bureau of Housing and Urban and Rural Construction System in 2012”.
