■ Prize winning route: Changyang Qingjiang River gallery–Caibu Stream Canyon Scenic Area–Tenglong Cave–Enshi Grand Canyon–Three Gorges of the Yangtze River - Tribe of Three Gorges

■ Prize winning reason: Due to underdeveloped the transport system, southwestern Hubei is still a “chaste pearl” unknown to many outsiders. It is considered a prime location for photographers. Fairytale-like Enshi and picturesque Qingjiang are paradises for shutterbugs.

■ Highlights of the route:. The highlights of this route are concentrated near the earth’s most beautiful northern latitude at 30º. The 300 km long Changyang Qingjiang River gallery, the splendid Caibu Stream Grand Canyon, the mysterious Tenglong Cave, the Enshi Grand Canyon with 100 km long precipices and the picturesque Tribe of Three Gorges have all featured in films.

For photography enthusiasts are usually drawn to Hubei’s beautiful natural scenery, the appealing folk culture of minority communities and time-honored historical sites.

Hubei, covering 185,900 square km, is in the heart of China and on the border between step 2 and step 3 terraces. Unique geological conditions have created the region’s diverse natural landscape: the steep Three Gorges of the mighty Yangtze River, the towering Wudang Mountain, the beautiful fault zone, Enshi Grand Canyon, and the vast East Lake..

Other natural landscapes for photographers include the magnificent and beautiful Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, the primitive forest of Shennongjia, and the holy land of Wudang Mountain. For images of birds and fish, head to Hubei Bird Base at Shiyang village, Jingshan county and Honghu Lake on Jianghan Plain. To capture human faces, , go to Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture to catch the genuine and touching smiles of the minority people. To shoot scenes of culture and history, look towards ancient Jingzhou city and the ancient battlefield at Red Cliff. Photograph the history of the revolution at the Museum of the 1911 Revolution in Wuhan in the northeast of Hubei and Changsheng Street in Hongan. To paint a picture of local life, visit Wuhan, Xiangyang and Yichang metropolitan regions.

Travel, enjoy, and capture the beautiful landscape of Hubei.
