17th Teochew International Convention concludes

The 17th Teochew International Convention concluded in Wuhan, Hubei province, on Nov 14, and the investment of Teochew businesspeople in Hubei is expected to help the province's economy.
The two-day event included the International Teochew Business Development Forum, an exhibition of the paintings and calligraphy of Teochew artists and a Teochew Literature and Art Gala.
Teochew businesspeople and Hubei province signed two agreements for investment projects worth a total of over 100 million yuan ($16.42 million). The Honorary Chairman of the event and director of the France Teochew Assembly, Wu Wuhua, urged Teochew people around the world to invest in Hubei.
Yang Xianzu, chairman of the Beijing Teochew Overseas Friendship Association, said that there was no extravagance or wastefulness at the event, and the chairman of the Malaysia Teochew Assembly, Wu Yuansheng, said that the event is remarkable as it celebrates culture while also resulting in economic achievements.
The 18th Teochew International Convention will be held in Vancouver, Canada, in 2015.
