Industrial parks

There is one development zone and eight industrial parks that are the key to the county of Changsha’s economic development -- the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone and the Xingsha, Muyun, Langli, Ganshan, Jiangbei, Huanghua, Jinjing, and Ansha industrial parks.

Enterprises above a designated scale had a total output value of 137.7 billion yuan, in 2011, for a year-on-year growth of 34.5 percent and accounting for 97 percent of the county’s total. In the 2007-11 period, the annual increase of enterprises output value reached 32.5 percent.

The zone, established in 1992, is the major developmental force that covers a 100-square–kilometer space. It became a national zone in 2000 and, by the end of 2011, had 482 enterprises, 50 of them with 100 million yuan in output, 10 with 1 billion yuan, and 26 of the global Top 500. They are mainly in engineering machinery and auto and auto parts, electronic information, and new materials.

The zone has “new industrialization demonstration base” status, “national intellectual property pilot”, “China greatest potential development zone”, “Hunan 100-billion new industrialization zone”, and “Hunan economic environment demonstration zone” status. By the end of 2011, its foreign enterprises included GAC Fiat Automobile, Japan’s Sumitomo Rubber Industries, and Germany’s Bosch Auto Parts and Changsha county’s major industries were helping promote its development and the county had 113.45 billion yuan in total output value in engineering machinery, auto parts, and electronic information,, accounting for 72 percent of its entire output value.

Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
