Retail sales of consumer goods in Golden Week reach 690 million yuan

 The Golden Week of the National Day holiday brings not only a hard-won seven-day vacation for employees, but also a good opportunity for business marketing. According to the preliminary statistics of the bureau of commerce of Changsha county, the total retail sales of consumer goods during the Golden Week are expected to exceed 690 million yuan ($112.5 million).

During the National Day holiday, the shopping malls, department stores, and chain supermarkets of the county took full advantage of the peak purchasing season, and put forward a series of promotional measures.

From Oct 1-6, Tongcheng Shopping Mall Xingsha Store achieved total sales of 21.5 million yuan; Changsha Lotus Market posted a sales revenue of 3.6 million yuan; A-best Supermarket Xingsha Store recorded sales revenues of 2.8 million yuan; and BuBuGao Supermarket Kaiyuan Store witnessed a sales revenue of 500,000 yuan.

All the shopping malls and supermarkets have seen positive year-on-year increases in their sales revenues. Suning Appliance Xingsha Store achieved all-round success with a year-on-year growth of 20 percent.

In terms of consumption in the catering industry, the sales revenue of the medium-end restaurants saw a turnaround in sales. During the holiday, the Kaiyuan Xincheng Hotel realized a total sales revenue of 770,600 yuan, up 11.58 percent year on year; and the total sales revenue of Xingcheng Qinhuang Restaurant reached 468,000 yuan, rising 9.86 percent year on year.

The rural consumer market also saw astounding sales. During the National Day holiday, Lukou Materials Supply and Marketing (Hetong Supermarket) achieved total sales revenue of 6.02 million yuan, increasing 5.2 percent compared with the same period last year; and Wangjiahui Chain Supermarket realized sales revenue of 4.62 million yuan, representing 13 percent year-on-year increase.

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
