The early rice purchasing of Changsha county in Hunan province has been underway for two months, and recently wound up. By late September, a total of 38,156 tons of early rice had been purchased; of which the lowest price rice totaled 33,490 tons.

Changsha county invested more than 4.6 million yuan to build new warehouses, shed warehouses, and temporary warehouses, and to repair the dilapidated and old warehouses. Also, by replacing the grain reserves and emptying out the existing warehouses, the county had expanded its warehousing capacity from 9400 tons in early 2014 to 54000 tons prior to the beginning of the rice purchase, and thus effectively alleviating the shortage of warehousing capacity for early rice.

Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
