Agricultural products of Changsha county are enjoying an uptick in business on account of high quality and strong market competitiveness, according to a local promotional conference held on Aug 2.

The county was issued with a national award in recognition of its high standards in agricultural quality and safety in 2014. This determination to pursue an industry-wide transformation of local agriculture is certainly benefitting the local economy.

Greater access to modern technology and the logistical and financial support of the local government has boosted the quality of yields in Changsha county. This has rendered local products more desirable and it is no surprise that the region now exports its agricultural goods to an impressive 80 countries around the world. Changsha county's foreign trade in the first half of the year reached an impressive $113.26 billion, a 53.9 percent increase from the previous year. Changsha county has set an exceedingly high bar and it is imperative that other counties take heed and follow suit

One of Changsha county's leading players in this increase in international trade is the tea industry. Tea produced locally in Changsha has proven a big hit abroad, as exemplified by the company Hunan Xiangfeng. Founded over 20 years ago, the company has established business relationships with more than 60 countries around the world and has been the six largest company in China's tea industry according to a 2013 national ranking.

While the development of foreign trade is proving hugely beneficial to the local economy, such endeavors are not without their problems and the local government, at a recent conference, vowed to pointedly address some of the problems and challenges that have arisen on account of foreign trade.

Yet, without a doubt, Changsha county is keeping an eye open for even more trade with foreign markets.
