Projects worth $1.22b break ground in Changsha

Six major projects with total investment of 8 billion yuan ($1.22 billion) announced to start constructions in Changsha county and Changsha Economic and Technological Zone on Oct 13, aiming to boost local economy and social development.

Covering an area of 449,000 square meters, the six projects involve several industries, such as gold intensive-processing, automotive lithium-ion battery diaphragm production and agricultural products.

Changsha-based Hunan Shuopu New Material Co, the investor of the battery diaphragm project, injected 5 billion yuan into the project and introduced the whole-set of advanced production line and employed experts and technicians from South Korea and Japan, expecting to improve domestic production technique.

Zeng Chaoqun, secretary of the Changsha County Party Committee, said in the ground-breaking ceremony that the government will provide convenient, effective and high quality services for enterprises to complete construction.

In recent years, Changsha has carried out the innovation-driven development and promoted opening up, bringing in remarkable results.

This year witnessed 173 major projects under construction registering a total investment of 109.94 billion yuan, among which five recorded an investment of more than 5 billion yuan.

Changsha seeks to revive porcelain production

In recent years, the local government has sought to revive the region's long tradition in porcelain making and boost local industry with the cultural influence of ancient Tongguan kilns, which have a history of 1,200 years.
