As one of events for the 65th anniversary of China-Russia relations, the 2014 “Russia and China Inner Mongolia Culture Week” was celebrated in the city of Ulan-Ude, capital of the Republic of Buryatia, a federal subject of Russia, on Oct 27. The five-day celebration will last until the end of October. It will take place in two venues subsequently; Irkutsk Oblast will be the culture week’s second station after its stop in Ulan-Ude. Nearly 50 wonderful activities will be held during the five days, including performances, comprehensive exhibitions and seminars. It will cover various fields such as culture, art and education.

Inner Mongolia and Buryatia have a long-lasting relationship in regards to their ethnicity, culture and religion. The Inner Mongolian delegates can communicate with local people in Mongolian language. There is a substantial foundation for further exchange and cooperation between the parties, said Chen Baoquan, the leading official of the Information Office of Inner Mongolia, as he spoke to the opening ceremony.

The vice-president of the Republic of Buryatia addressed the culture week’s opening ceremony by saying: China-Russia’s friendly relationship witnesses rapid development and was rewarded with significant improvement. A number of cooperative agreements have been reached between Buryatia and Inner Mongolia, which will help to push forward their exchanges and cooperation in various fields, such as education and culture. This culture week will let the people of Buryatia know more about Inner Mongolia.

The Russia-Inner Mongolia culture week was a joint initiative of the State Council Information Office and the governments of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the Republic of Buryatia and Irkutsk Oblast. A delegation of over 100 delegates was on hand at the culture week. Some of them are governmental representatives, culture practitioners, traditional Mongolian medicine experts and media.
Among all the cultural exchange activities, some of them were Inner Mongolia-related, including an Inner Mongolia Photo Exhibition, China Hongshan Culture Exhibition, China Inner Mongolia Movie Week, Chinese Traditional Mongolian Medicine Lecture and China-Russia Young Artists Exchange.
