Woniuhe town farmer art exhibition opens in provincial capital

Woniuhe is a town in the county-level city of Zalantun, Inner Mongolia. It is a tradition for farmers in the town to do calligraphy, painting and paper cutting during slack seasons.

A calligraphy and painting exhibition with all the works created by farmers from Woniuhe was held in the Inner Mongolia Art Museum 24 years ago.

On Dec 9, 2014, 153 calligraphy, painting and paper cutting works from Woniuhe town’s farmers were displayed in the region’s capital city, Hohhot. These exhibits were full of local flavor and vitality.

Wang Naixin, deputy head of the Inner Mongolia Calligraphers Association, was once the tutor for the farmer calligraphers and painters in Woniuhe town. After seeing the exhibition, Wang commented that their level of painting and calligraphy has remarkably improved.
