The results of 2015 MCM/ICM Contest have been released, and a team from Inner Mongolia Agricultural University (IMAU), the university's only entrant, was designated with an honorable mention.
Founded in 1985, the MCM/ICM Contest isone of the most influential modeling contests across the world. MCM stands for Mathematical Contest in Modeling and ICM stands for Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling.
Nearly 10,000 teams from countries and regions including the US, China, Canada, UK and Australia participated in the 2015 MCM/ICM, according to the event's organizer. Many global renowned universities, such as Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, and Tsinghua University, have their own teams for the contest.
The 2015 contest started from 9 pm on Feb 6 to 9 pm on Feb 10. This 96-hour contest required vast knowledge in economy, environment, resources, ecology, medicine and scientific technology. Moreover, every contestant must be competent in mathematics, computers, writing and English expression.
Inner Mongolia Agricultural University took part in the MCM/ICM contest for the first time. It marked a milestone for the university's education in mathematical modeling.
In addition to IMAU, a total of 50 teams from other universities in Inner Mongolia participated. Four teams from Inner Mongolia University and two from Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities also won honorable mentions.
