Archeologists in Inner Mongolia have discovered a temple relic of the Western Xia Regime (1038-1277) in Baotou's Jiuyuan district recently.

Baotou was once included in the domains of the Western Xia Regime. It's the first time that a Western Xia relic site has been found in Baotou, which fills a gap in the city's archeological discoveries of Western Xia and provides some materials for research on religious beliefs and life at that time, according to Zhang Haibin, head of the Baotou relics administration.

The relic site has three layers located halfway up a hill. According to the relics scattered at the site, including some rarely seen ceramic tiles around Baotou, the relic site covers about 30,000 square meters.

Baotou archeological authorities will carry protective evacuation further, said Zhang.
