Documentary on Silk Road to shoot in Inner Mongolia

The kick-off ceremony of a documentary on the grassland Silk Road was held in Hohhot in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region on April 15.

The documentary will feature economic development and cultural communication along the Silk Road and highlight the close and interactive relationship between the nomadic civilization and farming civilization.

"The Mongolian Plateau is the cradle of nomadic civilization. The development of nomadic civilization and farming civilization are always interactive and interdependent," said the documentary's director.

The film will be shot in China, Mongolia and Russia as a joint production of Inner Mongolia TV and China Central Television's Documentary Channel. It aims to displays the autonomous region's achievements in opening-up and the spirits of "harmony, peace and cooperation" that embodied the ancient Silk Road.

A seminar on the documentary was held on the same day. The officials from Inner Mongolia's publicity office and experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Science and Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Science and Inner Mongolia University were present for the seminar.
