After 16 months of construction, the main line of Hohhot’s urban expressway project went into trial operation at the end of July.

With a total investment of 20 billion yuan ($3.13 billion), the project pulled ahead of Hohhot’s other public works in investment, size and construction speed.
As the joining of the 65.31 kilometer expressway, Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has developed an urban road network accessible in all directions.

The expressway has 40 bus rapid transit (BRT) stations in its loop section of 46 kilometers, with a distance about 1.15 kilometers. The buses will drive in a special channel along the expressway. These stations will be completed by the end of this year, and the whole project will be finished by the end of next year.
The expressway will have 13 flyovers, 6 bridges, 12 flying bridges, 23 overpasses and 2 graben-like channels.
