A research project to study the characteristics of air pollution and air quality in the Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos city cluster started in Inner Mongolia recently.

Supported by the Special Fund of National Environmental Protection for Non-profit Industry, the project will identify air pollution characteristics, major pollution sources and influence factors through analysis of the economic development, energy and industrial structures of Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos. Meanwhile, it will also study the influences on atmospheric environment among the three cities as well as the city cluster’s influence on the surrounding area’s air quality, especially on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
