Preparations are in the final stage for the snow and ice festival in Darhan Muminggan banner near the city of Baotou, Inner Mongolia, with about 70 ice carvers busy putting the final touches on ice sculptures.

The China-Mongolia Snow and Ice Festival will open on Jan 10 and last for a month, with the vast grassland as a backdrop and with some winter sports competitions sharing the spotlight with the ice sculptures.
