On Oct 18, the 6th Ulanqab Potato Trade Fair began in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The fair was sponsored by the Inner Mongolia Commerce Bureau, the Inner Mongolia Council for the Promotion of International Trade (attached to the CCPIT), and the Ulanqab government.

It aims to build a platform for the display, publication, promotion, and trade of nationwide agri-products and by-products, enhance commercial cooperation among provinces and regions, and combine online and offline purchases and sales.

“Ulanqab plants over 4 million mu (267,000 hectares) and produces 4.5 million tons of sweet potatoes annually, accounting for a half of the total planting and yield of Inner Mongolia and over 20 percent of China’s, ranking it first among nationwide prefectural-level cities,” said Yu Haiyu, vice mayor of Ulanqab.
This year, Ulanqab has already sold about 1.9 million of the 4.5 million tons of potatoes it has produced, which hit a year-on-year increase of 6 percent. Most of the potatoes have been transported to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and many other places.
