Inner Mongolia has set goals for developing both its big data and cloud computing industries, with the ambition of building a data port along the Silk Road over the next three to five years.
Manzhouli and Erenhot, two port cities in Inner Mongolia, will be chosen as data centers to connect Mongolia, Russia, and Europe. The cities will resolve data bearer, data storage, data scrubbing, and data translation in the China-Russia-Mongolia area. It aims to create an “Online Silk Road” via services including international logistics and distribution, cross-border commerce, foreign tariff payments, and frontier inspections.
Inner Mongolia has also set five further development goals including the construction of a large data center in North China, a cross-sector governmental platform, an Internet Plus system for public services, a database for converging industrial advantages, and a multi-ethnic shared e-platform.
