Entrepreneurship drives employment
The employment rate in Baotou is increasing with a growing number of entrepreneurs also starting their own businesses in the city, Baotou Daily reported on Oct 11.
A total of 203,000 people found employment during the period from 2011 to the end of 2015, in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with some 9,500 job vacancies being offered by new startups.
Also, the Baotou E-commerce Pioneer Park was set up to serve as a platform for talented professionals working in e-commerce, backed by the people’s government of Baotou. The park is an incubator, aimed at recruiting young entrepreneurs who have ideas and ideals, but could not realize their business goals due to lack of money or experience.
Li Jun, a graduate of Baotou Light Industry Vocational Technical College, was a salesman at a dairy group earning a good salary. Never did the idea of starting his own business occur to him until Internet usage became popularized and e-commerce emerged, reducing the threshold and cost of entrepreneurship. Seizing the opportunity, Li set up his own company in the Baotou E-commerce Pioneer Park.
The park is expected to host 5,000 businesses and create 50,000 jobs over the next three years, while developing into a comprehensive e-commerce industrial park.
