Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, held promotional events in Hohhot and Ordos on Dec 15 and 16, to raise its profile as a tourism destination by appealing to more tourists from the two league cities.

The events are aimed at promoting the tourism resources of the largest city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with a video showcasing winter tourism attractions in Baotou, a PPT presentation and the signing of cooperation agreements with Hohhot and Ordos.

Highlights of the events included an ice and snow festival to open in Guyang county, which is under the administration of Baotou city. The festival will be open to the public from Jan 1, and will run until Feb 28. The festival will cover an area of 300,000 square meters. The ice and snow sculptures will be more than 40,000 cubic meters, and be jointly made by Baotou and Harbin, Heilongjiang province. Apart from the ice and snow sculptures and ice sports, the festival will also include food fairs featuring local snacks and agricultural products, as well as imported goods from Mongolia and Russia.
