Drones help to protect forests

A forest protection brigade reports for duty in Shiguai district, Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Mar 29. Shiguai district ranks first for forest patrol coverage in Baotou. The topographic condition of the district brings challenges in the protection and management of forests. Drones will assist in a wide range of areas including monitoring and calculating the coverage of forests, forest fires prevention and analyzing different types of vegetation through regular patrols. The team, consisting of 15 forest rangers from the forestry bureau of Shiguai district, is the first and only one that has been set up in Baotou city to employ drones in the protection of forests.
