Wuxi's first international maker space, jointly built by China Sensor Network International Innovation Park and the European Business Network (EBN), was inaugurated at the 2015 China-Europe (Wuxi) Technology Cooperation Forum & International (Wuxi) Makers Roadshow on Dec 2, according to the local portal wxrb.com.
The activity attracted 16 representatives from EBN, European consulates in China and European start-ups with more than 60 projects, covering new materials, new energy, environmental protection, biological medicine and intelligent machines.
The new maker space, focusing on technology transfer and project promotion, will deepen scientific and technological cooperation between China and Europe and set up a platform for exchanges of parks and enterprises on both sides.
The first counselor at the Polish Consulate General in Shanghai, Andrzej Pieczonka, said he sees a promising future for the platform and hopes to seek business cooperation opportunities here.
The Head of International Projects of EBN Robert Sanders said that EBN has rich technologies relying on its 25,000 small businesses, and he has expectations for this association.
The day also saw four signing ceremonies between the China Sensor Network International Innovation Park and Portugal Minho Innovation Center, the Wangzhuang Technology Innovation Center Wuxi New District and a China-Europe park of Finland's Hermia, a coffee shop and the maker space of the Wuxi China-Europe International Technology Transfer Center, and Wuxi Little Swan Co. and Finland's Millidyne Co., which prompted international technology communication.
EBN is an international community and network of around 150 quality-certified EU|BICs (business and innovation centers) and 100 other organizations that support the development and growth of innovative entrepreneurs, start-ups and small and medium enterprises.
Therefore, the "joining hands" will be conducive to quickening Wuxi New District's steps of "going out and bringing in".
