Wansan Wine is named after a tycoon called Shen Wanshan, and is made of the sticky rice grown in the local climate and earth. It matures best in October – and is thus also known as White October. White October is now the most famous wine in the Zhouzhuang Yuanfengshun Wine Workshop, which covers an area of 700 square meters with an investment of 800,000 yuan (the original Zhouzhuang Wansan Winery was relocated to the workshop).

The workshop is largely used to show visitors the unique mode of brewing wine used by the town residents, in order to promote the Wansan wine culture of Zhouzhuang. The workshop mainly produces Wansan rice wine and Wansan October liquor, as well as products including Wansan beer, Wansan home-style wine and Wansan banquet wine – which are all enjoyed around China and also overseas. White October Wine has a very special taste and the rice wine is said to benefit blood circulation and improve metabolism.
