Kunshan will open its first trans-provincial tour bus line on April 1. The bus line will link Qiandeng, Jinxi, Zhouzhuang town in Kunshan and Tongli town in Wujiang district to Shanghai metro Line 11 in hopes of attracting more visitors from Shanghai.
Stretching 60 kilometers, the cross-regional bus line starts from Huaqiao Station of Shanghai metro Line 11. It passes through Qiandeng, Jinxi and Zhouzhuang and ends in Tongli. There are two buses running the tour route every day, with prices slightly higher than public buses. The price is 4 yuan ($0.64), 7 yuan, 12 yuan and 17 yuan to Qiandeng, Jinxi, Zhouzhuang and Tongli, respectively. Visitors with Kunshan’s travel packages will be able to take the bus for free, but the city’s IC bus cards cannot be used.
Since the operation of Shanghai’s metro Line 11, a growing number of Shanghai citizens have traveled to Kunshan, resulting in a shortage of tour buses.
Kunshan has now launched a cross-regional bus line to accommodate more trips around the city and promote old town tourism.
