Jiangsu will spend three years in improving the toilets at tourist sites that have long been complained of insufficient numbers, unhygienic conditions and lack of management, according to a meeting held by the Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Administration.

Last year, the province's index of tourist satisfaction stood at 81.68, while that of public toilets at tourist sites reached 79.49.

As of the end of June, Jiangsu had invested 205 million yuan ($31.98 million) in 600 toilets, including 344 newly-built and rebuilt toilets and 256 under construction.
