If you want to experience the most delicious local and organic dishes from Dianshan Lake town, get yourself down on May 22.
The town is hosting a cooking contest among natives and new settlers in the town on the day, as part of the third Gourmet Festival.
Entrants will have one hour to finish cooking and present their dishes. They should bring food materials and condiments and special tools to the contest site at the Dianshan Lake town community center.
The preparatory works, including soaking, washing, chopping, mincing, marinating and pre-heating, may be completed at home prior to the contest.
Luxury food materials and condiments are not encouraged; neither are artificial colorants. There will be no limit set on cooking methods or taste types.
Each contestant will get three minutes to explain their works before the appraisers judge the works on three criteria – the healthiness of the chosen food materials, the food safety standards achieved in the cooking process, and the taste, scent, color and shape or form of the dish presented.
