Those lucky enough to have already visited Zhouzhuang, a famous water town in East China's Jiangsu province, will already know the scenic spot is a place of splendid architecture, flowing water and a diverse range of activities and entertainmnet.

Viewing Zhouzhuang by boat is one of the best ways to get to the heart of the town and experience how the water is integral to its life blood. Setting off from Baixian Lake and navigating through the town’s many criss-crossed waterways, the boat finally docks in Nanhu Lake. Visitors will be treated to the beautiful natural landscape, ancient architecture and charming history and culture of Zhouzhuang during the trip.

Reading at Nanshe Academy

Nanshe Academy serves as a recreational place for reading and relaxation. The academy, which has a history of more than 100 years, features thread-bound ancient books filled with stories and information about Zhouzhuang's ancient history, as well as more modern fare.

The ancient Qing Dynasty (1644-1919) has four entrances which lead to a sedan chair lounge, a main hall and a hall building, as well as a typical back courtyard. The smell of books fills the space. Visitors can relax and read to escape the summer heat.

The spectacular stage show, Zhouzhuang in Four Seasons, which takes the audience on a journey through the water town's history, runs every evening from April to November.

The play is set in the classic environment of small bridges, running rivers and riverside households.

It depicts the fascinating charms of Zhouzhuang through the changing seasons, with spring's "rainy lane", summer's "picking lotus seeds", autumn's "harvest", and winter's "Spring Festival".
