Kunshan residents' believes in the God of Mount Tai and valiant generals

Abstract: Kunshan residents have long believed in the God of Mount Tai, a major god in Taoism. To celebrate the god's birthday, which is said to be on the 28th day of the third lunar month, the residents hold grand worshipping ceremonies every year, giving folk artistic shows and displaying traditional local snacks and farm produce. These temple fairs held in Chetang village, Lujia town and Jiangli village, Zhangpu town were listed as Kunshan city's intangible cultural heritage in 2010.
Kunqu Opera in Kunshan eyes

Abstract: Since Kunqu Opera first emerged in Kunshan in the middle Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), it has developed and prospered as one of the most famed operas in China. Many excellent Kunqu Opera writers, especially Kunshan natives, have handed down numerous outstanding pieces. The lecture will tell the story of Zheng Ruoyong, along with his master works Yujue Ji, Xiuru Ji and Wufu Ji.
