Auditions for "Rising Star", China’s biggest dancing competition for children aged between five and 15, got underway in Kunshan, Jiangsu province on Oct 7.
The opening ceremony of the televised contest saw teenagers performing a variety of dancing routines from ballet, street, and jazz, to tap, Latin, and even folk dances popular around Kunshan and surrounding towns.
The competition, which is supported by professional dancing associations across China, is the sequel of "Dance of China", a TV show hosted by Zhejiang TV in 2014.
Those auditioning are to perform, either solo or in groups, a routine from 2.5 to four minutes in length.
Dancers who are selected will attend a three-day training program and receive professional guidance from top stars, taking in various dancing lessons as a warm-up for the finals to be held around the city, the province and the country.
Those interested can register until Oct 15 using the app "Kunshan Wisdom", and on 0512-5039-2557.
