Zhouzhuang, a well-known water town in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, is currently running a publicity campaign in New York's famous Times Square, xinhuanet.com reported Feb 19. The campaign follows Zhouzhuang being selected as one of the "52 places to go in 2015" by the New York Times newspaper.
The beautiful water town has now a noteworthy publicity poster in Times Square's famous advertisement billboards, wishing everyone a "Happy Chinese Lunar New Year". The poster further reads, "Zhouzhuang, China, 52 Places to Go in 2015 by the New York Times".
Zhouzhuang, regarded as the first water town in China, features waterways, stone arch bridges, well-preserved architectural style of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, folk customs and traditional handicrafts such as homespun textile and bamboo weaving crafts.
The town now enjoys global reputation with a string of international honors, including the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honor Award, the world's most charming water town, one of the top 50 recommended scenic spots for foreigners, as well as one of the top 10 most beautiful towns in the world. Being selected as one of the "52 places to go in 2015" as recommended by The New York Times is the latest addition of honors attached to Zhouzhuang's reputation.
