Accelerating ship lock construction. The construction work of Jiaogang ship lock has accelerated. The 520 million yuan Jiaogang ship lock is the mouth to the Yangtze River of the trunk waterway Lianshen line. It is designed according to the standard of third-grade waterways and allows ships of 1,000 tons.
The construction work started in April 2008 solved difficulties of complicated demolishment of land, the fluctuating building material market, and problems in the administration of construction teams, and finally realized stable progress, taking lead in the evaluation of the provincial port and waterway projects.
The pre-feasibility study on the regulation project of Dongtai-Hai'an third-grade waterway of Lianshen line has passed inspection by the Development and Reform Commission. The pre-feasibility study report on the rebuilding project of the five-grade standard Lvsi Lock, with a navigation capacity of 300 tons, has been completed. Meanwhile, maintenance and improvement projects of waterway bank protection, dredging, and lock maintenance is in progress, ensuring safe and unobstructed waterway transportation.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
