NETDA holds working and education conference

NETDA held a working conference and education conference for Party members and cadres on Jan 16. Over 500 people attended. Qiang Qiang, deputy secretary of the Party working committee and chairman of the management committee conducted the conference.

Qu Baoxian, secretary of the Party working committee, made a work statement at the meeting. He said that NETDA made steady economic growth in 2012 despite the severe economic situation around the world. Gross regional production was anticipated to be 36 billion yuan ($5.8 billion), an increase of 12.5 percent year-on-year. Industrial output was 124 billion yuan ($20 billion), an increase of 17.6 percent. Industrial scale added value was 32 billion yuan ($5 billion), an increase of 14.7 percent. General financial revenue was 8 billion yuan ($1.3 billion), including 3.3 billion yuan of local public finance budget revenue. Total volume of foreign trade was 4.4 billion dollars, an increase of 2.9 percent. Fixed-asset investment was 30 billion yuan ($4.8 billion), an increase of 23.4 percent.

The use of foreign capital hit a record high. Industry and commerce registered foreign capital increased by $800 million. Thirty-two foreign investment projects were authorized with investments totaling over $1 billion. Disbursement of foreign capital was $760 million, 190 percent of the municipal government assessment target and a record high.

Industrial structure was also continuously optimized last year. Four pillar industries – modern equipment manufacturing, fine chemical engineering, textile and clothing, and food – had a production value of 117.5 billion yuan, an increase of 18 percent. More than 150 enterprises had an output value of over 100 million yuan. High and new technology industrial output value reached 51 billion yuan ($8.2 billion), an increase of 21.4 percent and accounting for 41 percent of industrial scale production. Emerging industry output value was 37 billion yuan ($6 billion), an increase of 23.4 percent and accounting for 30 percent of industrial scale production. Added value in the service industry totaled 5.7 billion yuan ($0.9 billion), an increase of 15.5 percent. The total retail sale of consumer goods reached 6.9 billion yuan ($1.1 billion), an increase of 16 percent.

Resident income also saw continuous improvement. Urban per capita disposable income was 30,680 yuan, an increase of 14.6 percent. Rural per capita net income was 14,042 yuan, an increase of 11.98 percent. Registered urban unemployment fell to under 4 percent.

Qu Baoxian said at the conference that NETDA will thoroughly implement the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the CPC. NETDA will promote basic modernization by aiming to improve the quality and efficiency of economic growth, speed up pattern and structure adjustments, develop new advantages for economic growth, and improve urbanization development level and the livelihood of the people.

Qiang Qiang demanded each department and relevant units study and implement the spirit of the 18th National Congress thoroughly and focus on current key work.

Six advanced collective groups and 20 advanced individuals were honored at the meeting. Two units were given special contribution awards.
