There was a groundbreaking ceremony for a Nantong 15,000-t pesticide project, on May 16, in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA), with its leaders taking part.
The project - Yangtze No 2 – is the work of Syngenta (Nantong), the local branch of the global Swiss specialized chemical company, which markets seeds and pesticides. The project will have an annual capacity of 15,000 tons of pesticide at a cost of 220 million yuan ($35.8 million). It uses leading technology to produce environmentally friendly herbicides, insecticidal fungicide, seed coating formulations, and powders.
Syngenta employs about 27,000 people in 90 countries around the world. Syngenta (Nantong) says that it concentrates on innovation, scientific management, and quality products and that the pesticide project will extend its industrial chain, expand its business, and help the area with industrial upgrades.
