An 800-ton self-elevating offshore wind power operational platform, designed by the Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co and manufactured by the company’s Nantong facility, was delivered on June 13 to the Jiangsu Longyuan Zhenhua Marine Engineering Co.
The platform has the largest hoisting capacity nationwide and can be applied to a wide range of marine fields, according to Dai Wenkai, executive vice president of Shanghai Zhenhua. It was equipped with a cutting-edge and multi-functional hoisting system and involved several independently developed new technologies. The platform can efficiency raise and cut costs in offshore wind power installations.
Longyuan is a world-famous wind power operator, with the world’s second largest installed capacity. Shanghai Zhenhua has claimed more than 70 percent of the world’s port machinery manufacturing for 16 consecutive years. The two companies joined hands in 2010 and built a joint venture to develop offshore wind power.
The platform enables offshore wind power construction at 30 meters below water. ABS and CCS, the two international well-known ship-builders, also participated in the construction. Zhenhua’s Nantong facility undertook the construction and managed to deliver the platform on schedule. The platform allows for single or multiple pile sinking, and can pinpoint the hoisting position. It will be put into operation soon to help build Longyuan’s 200,000KW wind power plant.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
