The city of Nantong, Jiangsu province, will host the 2014 Nantong Jianghai International Tourism Festival from Sept 27 to Oct 31.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Nantong Adventure Land on Sept 27 and the Junshan Scenic Area will open to the public for free that day, according to a report given at a news conference on Sept 18.
Apart from the opening ceremony, the Festival will organize 20 themed activities including various tourism exhibitions, promotion meetings and carnivals.
The tourism department of the city also distributed a special “tourist passport” to targeted customers, which listed over 50 scenic spots, restaurants, tourism products and concessions.
As a regional tourism city, Nantong has actively integrated itself into the traveling routes of East China, contributing to more tourists from Northeast and Southwest China traveling to the city, according to Dai Ping, director of Nantong Tourism Bureau.
Nantong also enjoyed a growth in tourist numbers from Southeast Asia by expanding its foreign markets, Dai said.
It will be the 12th Jianghai International Tourism Festival since the first was held in 2003. The festival was recognized as a Top 10 Tourism Festival in Jiangsu and won the Golden Finger Award of China’s Festival Industry.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
