An India-Nantong Business & Investment Forum took place in Nantong city, Jiangsu province on August 28. The aim of this event was to attract more investment from Nantong-based enterprises.
During the forum, Kumar Ray Sudhansu, consul of Consulate General of the Republic of India in Shanghai, made a speech on Chinese enterprises' business opportunities in India. He noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to India in 2014 was a milestone in the development of bilateral ties. He also voiced his wish to enhance cooperation with Nantong to facilitate joint growth.
Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology (ZTT) Group, as a pioneer that has invested in India, shared its investment experience. Nantong enterprises that participated in the event showed interest in developing business cooperation with Indian enterprises.
India, a key country along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, has maintained close ties with Nantong in business trade and education. In 2014, the value of import and export between Nantong and India reached $ 606 million. India-based enterprises have invested in 20 projects in Nantong.
Furthermore, Nantong University has started to enroll Indian students who majored in medicine since 2005. And now it has more than 200 Indian students studying in the university.
