A forum on youth e-commerce entrepreneurship was held in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Oct 17, to discuss ways to help young people start businesses in the e-commerce sector.
Due to the rapid growth of e-commerce in recent years and an increasing demand for technical talent, the forum, organized by the city's Jiangsu Vocational College of Business (JVCB), was designed to solve the problems in colleges' e-commerce courses and help them cultivate more top students for the e-commerce industry.
Representatives of e-commerce companies and e-commerce experts from colleges spoke about e-commerce entrepreneurship, the motivation of starting a business, and cross-border e-commerce entrepreneurship training and practice.
Moreover, an alliance of e-commerce companies and colleges in East China (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai) was announced at the forum.
The alliance focuses on promoting integration of e-commerce education and practice and improving students' capabilities of starting businesses through regular meetings and lectures to discuss the latest trends of e-commerce, online websites for communication and exchange, field trips to companies and start-up bases, and academic symposia to explore teaching methods.
At the end of the forum, the JVCB, along with 19 colleges, received recognition as a youth e-commerce entrepreneurship base for its efforts to establish a business incubator that is slated to start operation by the end of 2015.
