A conference was held on March 12 in the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA - in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province - in order to map out a strategy to attract more science and technological innovation projects to settle in the zone and lay a good foundation for its future development, according to local media.

Among those attending were Wu Yongfeng, director of Nantong science and technology bureau high-tech division and Cao Yanhui, member of the Party working committee of the NETDA and deputy director of the management committee, as well as Cao Yonghong, director of the talent and science and technology bureau of the development zone.

The conference attracted the participation of nearly 100 professionals from a range of interested fields in the region.

Cao put forward three suggestions:

"First, we should unify our thinking, improve our position and recognize the significance of attracting science and innovation projects."

"Second, understand the standard, enhance our awareness, and improve the quantity and quality of science and innovation projects to be attracted."

"Third, implement responsibilities, strengthen cooperation and form a joint force for the whole region to attract science and innovation projects. "

Many consider science and innovation projects to be important for the growth for high-quality development, as well as for promoting regional transformation and upgrading.

Cao urged investment units to make sci-tech projects the top priority in terms of attracting investment - as well as to make contributions to the sci-tech innovation and development of the region.

It is understood that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the importance of sci-tech innovation projects will continue to increase and investment teams in the development zone should be prepared.
