The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area or NETDA is among the first 14 national-level economic and technological development zones in China. It was established on Dec 19, 1984 upon the approval of the central government.
A photo exhibition with a total of 60 works on display to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China was held in the NETDA on May 26.

The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
