The Jiangsu entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureau rolled-out a series of reforms to its customs clearance system on June 1. The reforms are widely anticipated to make it easier for Taicang's foreign-trade enterprises to conduct import and export business.
The reforms have effectively removed the need for import and export companies in Jiangsu to provide customs paperwork, allowing them to pass through customs without inspection at Shanghai Port. The new measures are expected to shorten the time it takes to clear customs and reduce costs for import and export enterprises.
Since the reformed system was tested in Taicang on May 18, 32 foreign-trade enterprises in Taicang have benefited from it, helping them save 16,000 yuan in clearance costs and 60 working days in time.
