The importance of the Suzhou-Manzhouli-Europe freight trains has been highlighted at the Silk Road Port Regional Cooperation Conference and the Sino-Russia-Europe Container Transportation Facilitation Seminar held in Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on June 16.
With average traveling time of around 13-14 days and price for each container being almost 20 percent cheaper than that of other train lines, the Suzhou-Manzhouli-Europe freight trains are the quickest and the cheapest line for Sino-Europe container transport at present.
Since the first cross-border container train started running from Suzhou in Jiangsu province to Warsaw in Poland last March, the 11,200 km Suzhou-Manzhouli-Europe railway line has transported 5,670 containers of goods with a total value of $450 million by the end of May 2015.
